1. The lux level (brightness) required for the football field
The lux level between television and non-television competitions varies widely. According to the FIFA Stadium Lighting Guide, the highest standard level of the V-level (ie World Cup and other international television broadcasts) football stadium is 2400 lux (vertical - football player's face) and 3500 lux (horizon - turf). If the football field is for the community (entertainment), we need 200 lux levels. High school or college football clubs can have 500 lux.
2. Uniformity standard
Another important parameter is illumination uniformity. It is a ratio of 0 to 1 (maximum), reflecting the lumen distribution within the playing field. It is the ratio of the minimum illuminance to the average illuminance (U1), or the ratio of the minimum to the maximum (U2). Therefore, if the lux levels are very similar, about 650 to 700 lux, the difference between the minimum and maximum values is very small and the uniformity will be closer to 1. The FIFA standard football field has a uniformity of 0.7, which is relatively challenging in the sports lighting industry.
3. Color temperature
The general color temperature requirement for all levels of football are greater than 4000K. Despite this suggestion, we usually recommend the cool white light (from 5000K to 6500K) to provide better illumination for the players and audience because these colors are more invigorating.
